Listen to Hannah's recording, a school project at Denver University, as she speaks to young elementary school students about her journey with dyslexia.

We met Avivah shortly after Hannah was diagnosed with dyslexia.  It had been such a hard year, full of frustration, doubt, and tears.  Hannah's self-esteem was so low.  Socially and emotionally, she was struggling. We started seeing Avivah, and the change was almost instant.  She gained so much confidence and was finally happy to go to school.  The battles over homework ended!  She was motivated and sure of her abilities to conquer challenges.  Just last week, she came home with the news that she had been selected as the narrator for her school play and had more lines to read than any of the other kids!  Never in a million years did I think this was a possibility two years ago.  Our lives truly changed when Avivah became a part of our world.  We could not be more grateful.

Our family has had the pleasure of having Avivah as a formidable part of our son, Garrett’s, education for 5 years.  Avivah connected with our son on a meaningful level, making learning fun and possible.  We truly feel she has been instrumental in his educational success; guiding him with dignity, creativity, nurture, and patience.

To parents with children who have learning difficulties.

We were first introduced to Avivah Polmer at the beginning of January 2009.  She was recommended to use by the doctor who diagnosed our son with dyslexia, dysgraphia  and a mild case of ADHD. Our son had, by the 3rd grade, been showing signs of the above mentioned struggles. We were struggling as parents to find him the help he needed. Thankfully, Avivah has been able to work with our son on dealing with these challenges.

Avivah's approach to retraining the brain, to building his confidence and to strengthening his weaknesses has been MONUMENTAL. Not only in our son's life , but ours as well. Our son, who is now in high school, continues to benefit from her teachings and support to this day.  We understand, as does our son, that these struggles will always need to be strengthened and reinforced throughout his life, but the knowledge and confidence that Avivah has provided for him will help him to succeed in life. We wholeheartedly recommend Avivah for parents whose children need support and help in these very important life skills.

With appreciation and gratitude.

Tutoring with Avivah has helped me in more ways than I could have imagined. She has helped me with my struggles in school and has always been there for me when I needed her. She always went the extra mile in making sure that I fully understood what we were doing. She is an expert in what she does and has helped me become the student I am today. I am now in college, and working with Avivah has helped me better prepare for success in college.

Avivah has singlehandedly transformed lives with her approach and execution of knowledge. She is genuine, gentle and encouraging. Her talent is paramount, and her work ethic and connection with kids of all ages is second to none. As a parent, I appreciate her commitment, professionalism and communication. Thank You, Avivah, for years of unparalleled instruction!

Working with Avivah gave me a sense of belonging; without her I wouldn’t be as confident in the classroom as I am today. I don’t even think I would be where I am today without the support she has given me. Not only through school work but just building my confidence up in knowing that I am no different because I have learning disabilities.

I remember I hated writing when I was in elementary school. I always had crazy stories and ideas in my head, but I could never get the words to cooperate. However, once I started going to Avivah, I learned how to control the words. They no longer were scary entities that caused Fs on spelling tests. Avivah helped me understand how words can be used to create beautiful things and are nothing to fear.

Tutoring has really helped me become the person I am today. It has really helped me accept my dyslexia. I have also learned that having dyslexia is a gift and not a curse. So I think that Avivah and tutoring has helped me become far more confidant in my own abilities, and I have also grown as a reader and writer.

Because of our daughters' dyslexia, they struggled with learning the alphabet, with standardized tests, and ultimately with their confidence. Avivah helped our daughters embrace their strengths and taught them to self-advocate. She, of course, also taught them how to read. She was kind and patient. Under Avivah's guidance, our girls' comprehension and fluency greatly improved which led to academic success. She also taught them to understand their own mind as well as how to decode words. With Avivah's help, Rose and Paige have found success in school, and they have also learned to respect and appreciate their own mind.

Cole really needed help getting all his thoughts on paper. We found Avivah and went from hovering in the Ds with his English to As and Bs consistently. She is a great resource for tutoring as well as tips and tricks to successfully navigate schoolwork with ADHD. I would absolutely recommend her.

A friend recommended Avivah to us for our daughter who has ADHD and dyslexia and was struggling with reading and math. We are so grateful to have her helping our daughter navigate these challenges. Avivah and my daughter instantly formed a strong rapport and founded great working relationship that has made tutoring a very positive experience. Avivah is knowledgeable, effective, and caring. She has helped our daughter advance more than three grade levels in reading in less than a year, and has her set on a great path to be successful in school and life. When we moved out of state last spring we decided to continue working with Avivah remotely using videoconference, and it has been great. To be honest I was doubtful my daughter would be able to focus and fully engage over this medium, but it hasn't been a problem. We would recommend Avivah to anyone; she's fantastic.

Drew is doing amazing. He graduated from CSU in May with honors.  He is working for GE Johnson as a Field Engineer at the new Children's Hospital.

Without 3 days a week for 5 years of working with you,  none of this would be happening for Drew.

Not only did you teach Drew to read, you taught him how to advocate for himself, be a deep thinker and see how hard work can pay off.  You worked so closely with not only Drew but his school and Jimmy and me.  The love you have for your students and their families is a gift.  When we would think the world was crashing around us, you kept us believing all would be fine.  You were right.
